The Simply Born Family

We believe that babies begin relating with their mothers while still growing in the womb. So we encourage both the mother and her family to interact with the baby during this precious time.  Women do birth best when she is supported to listen to her body and follow its lead. Our midwifery style (and there are numerous ones out there) springs from the deep belief and respect in the woman's innate ability to give birth.  Encouraging her to  create a quiet dim space where she can go inside her own deep self and do the work of bring the baby forth.  When she finds that space deep inside herself she will give birth smoothly with calm and peace.
Women with histories of abuse of any sort can blossom into a new, higher level self esteem by learning their own deep reservoirs of power and strength.  Working with each mother to help make sure her needs are met is a hallmark of the care we provide.    We also specialize in caring for women/families in unusual circumstances-adoptions, surrogacy, babies who have terminal conditions, and working with women who have medical conditions that preclude homebirth but who want the type of care we provide during pregnancy and postpartum, in addition to seeing her doctor.   Our services can provide doula care in the hospital including helping to navigate a more family centered cesarean if necessary.
Childbirth education, lactation support, Doula work and midwifery along with prenatal parenting have been part of the continuing themes in our world.  We offer individualized care and information to encourage women and families to learn the skills they need to have the best experience in family beginnings.
